The Old Blind Dogs
June 13, 2022
The Old Blind Dogs have existed as a band for 30 years now. They blend traditional music of Scotland with new ideas about how to play those tunes. The music of their new recording shows the variety in their music, as it brings together traditional and modern music. Even their version of "John Barleycorn" is a modern setting of the Robert Burns version. It's only fitting that they be the act that begins the newest era of the Pasadena Folk Music Society concert series, as we come back together to share the music.

Chanticleer
May 13, 2022
The GRAMMY® Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer marks the return of CaltechLive! in person events at Beckman Auditorium with their concert Awakenings.

The Life and Times of A. Einstein
January 25, 2020
The year is 1934. Albert Einstein has fled Nazi Germany with his family and secretary, Ellen, and settled in Princeton, New Jersey. It is his birthday, March 14, and a group of reporters has gathered in his living room to interview him on this special occasion. He is late. Kres Mersky as Ellen, Einstein's proper and contained secretary, is stalling the reporters until he arrives. She fields questions, placates and humors them, while attempting to keep the chaotic household running smoothly. The Life and Times of A. Einstein is a hilarious and touching portrait of Ellen, as well as a humanizing look into the "great thinker's" life, as seen through the people around him.

Kiran Ahluwalia
December 14, 2019
Kiran Ahluwalia is a modern exponent of the great vocal traditions of India and Pakistan which she honors intensely yet departs from in masterful, personal ways. Her original compositions embody the essence of Indian music while embracing influences from Mali and Western blues, rock, R & B, and nuances of jazz. With her 5-piece group of electric guitar, accordion, organ, tabla and drum kit, Ahluwalia creates boundary-breaking songs that invite us to explore the human condition, transcending the self by losing ourselves in a trance of groove and melody.
